Too Faced Sweet Peach eyeshadow Palette - Lena Talks Beauty

Too Faced Sweet Peach Eyeshadow Palette

Too Faced’s Sweet Peach Eyeshadow Palette was one of the biggest makeup releases of 2016. It sold out very quickly, but now it’s back! This palette will be available on Tuesday 31st January from Mecca Maxima in New Zealand and Australia. Ahead of it’s release, I was sent it to review and was so excited that I screamed and called one of my friends. I hadn’t owned anything by Too Faced  since it hadn’t been sold in New Zealand until Mecca Maxima opened here late in 2016.  I had swatched a few things at Mecca Maxima in Australia a few years ago, but mostly  just eyed international bloggers with jealousy. Read on to have a closer look at the Too Faced Sweet Peach eyeshadow palette, as well as seeing it in action.

The box is too pretty to throw out.

There are 18 Eye Shadows in the Sweet Peach Eyeshadow Palette, with each weighing 0.95g/0.03 Oz. You get slightly more product than an Urban Decay Naked  eyeshadow palette ( Sweet Peach net weight 17.1g/0.54Oz VS Urban Decay Naked 16.92g/ 0.6Oz) but with a bigger variety of shadows. I used the Naked palette comparison since so many people have them, or are at least familiar with them.

The packaging for this palette is both sturdy and pretty. There’s a gradient of peachy shades on the top, with textured peaches. It’s something that I want to display on my makeup table – not that there’s any space for all the things I want to display. It’s made of metal and has a magnetic closure, which is useful if you’re travelling with it. There’s also a decent sized mirror which is especially useful if travelling or doing your makeup away from home. One of my specialities is doing my makeup in my car, and a palette mirror gives a better view than craning at myself in the rear vision mirror.

I liked that the palette includes instructions for how to create some  looks with the shadows. Despite being a major makeup enthusiast, I’m not actually super confident with combining colours for eyeshadow. I’ve watched countless tutorials but when it comes down to it I tend to stick with my tried and true approaches. Hopefully over time I’ll have a crack at doing each of these different looks.

I started following the ‘Peaches and Cream’ diagram, but I realised that it didn’t use any of the really peachy shades that are what make this palette so special. So I then added ‘just peachy’ and ‘candied peach’ over the top to get that peach look.  To apply my eyeshadow, I used Bdellium Tools eyeshadow brushes, available from iHerb

The other makeup products I used are as follows (links to previous blog posts I’ve written about them)

I liked the way the eyeshadow look worked on me. Since my eyes are hooded, often you can’t see much eyeshadow when my eyes are open. I liked smudging the eyeshadow into my lower lashline, as well as putting some shimmer on the inner corner. Having more shadow on areas that aren’t my lids means you can actually see some of the eyeshadow which makes it feel a bit more worthwhile! Often tutorials for palettes would then cover that up with a big swoosh of black liquid eyeliner but if I did that, there wouldn’t be any visible eyeshadow. If you did want to add liquid eyeliner it could work with many of these looks too.

Prices for this collection in New Zealand are listed below. I was pleasantly surprised at the price, compared to the Urban Decay Naked Palettes which are $91 in New Zealand. That might sound phenomenally expensive to my overseas readers but it’s in line with cosmetics prices here in New Zealand.

  • Sweet Peach Eyeshadow Palette $78
  • Sweet Peach Glow Peach-Infused Highlighting Palette $66
  • Sweet Peach Creamy Lip Oil $29 – to see them in action, check out my friend Alanna’s video
  • Papa Don’t Peach Peach-infused blush $47
    • Too Faced Sweet Peach Highlighter Palette - Lena Talks Beauty (1 of 1)

I love the look of the highlighting palette

In New Zealand and Australia, the Too Faced Sweet Peach collection is available on Tuesday 31st January from Mecca Maxima and meccabeauty.co.nz or mecca.com.au. Wherever you are in the world, find your nearest Too Faced stockist on their website.

I have the original Too Faced Chocolate Bar which I love and I’m tossing up whether to get this or not as I keep reading mixed reviews. Love the look you’ve created with it!
