The best of iHerb

Saturday, October 18th 2014 Makeup is one of my favourite sites to buy beauty products, and today I’m going to share what I think is the best of iherb, and also some things that are on my wishlist. the best of iherb One of my most recent buys is the famous Queen Helene Mint Julep Masque. It’s perfect for oily or acne-prone skin to clear up pimples. Since my skin is dry, I only apply on areas of my face with acne to avoid drying it out, and so far it’s worked really well. It’s under 5 NZ dollars for a big 220g tube, so it’s such a bargain. Queen Helene mint julep masque I’ve also been loving the ELF Brow Kit for over six months now and am very pleased with it. It comes with a gel and a powder, and both work together nicely. Sometimes I use just the powder for a more subtle look. It comes with a tiny double ended brush but I prefer to use my own brushes. I use the shade light, and here’s how it looks on me. There is ash, which is lighter, and also medium and dark. ELF brow kit in lightI’ve also bought some EcoTools and Real Techniques brushes, and have been happy with all of them. Real Techniques is owned by makeup artists and YouTube Queens Samantha and Nic Chapman of PixiWoo fame. They are all really good quality brushes and at very affordable prices. I’m planning on buying the Real Technique Expert Face Brush soon, as it’s raved about all over beauty blogs and in youtube videos. I’d highly recommend all of EcoTools’ brushes, especially the eye makeup ones.

After being mislead by a number of silicone-filled serums masquerading as ‘oils’ (cough cough Moroccanoil, see post here), I was excited to buy Cococare’s argan oil to use on my hair. I put a little bit on it after it’s dry, and it helps tame any frizz I might have. It works a treat. Some people swear by putting argan oil on their skin too, but I’ve never tried it. cococare argan oil Iherb also has a lot of food and other items, and some things I’ve found have been really good. I liked the Tazo Chai tea and the Equal Exchange milk chocolate with Hazelnut was divine. Next up on my list to buy is some of the ELF Matte Lips Colors – I particularly like the look of Rich Red and Tea Rose. My friend Laura from Laura Love Beauty blog is convinced that Tea Rose is the perfect cheaper dupe for Kylie Jenner’s famed nude lip. ELF matte rich red and tea rose   Do you have any iherb favourites? Tell me what they are, I’m always on the lookout for fun new products.

Sounds like a great site – are the shipping costs expensive and what is the delivery time frame like?

    • They have a $4 flat rate, can take a couple of weeks, but the $8 option comes with tracking and is usually here in NZ in a week or less – they ship from the US.

  • I can’t wait to pick these things up in my next iHerb shop! x

I went crazy on iHerb and now I have so much e.l.f. stuff! I love the matte lip pencil in Tea Rose, I pair that with bare skin and dark eyebrows (using their brow kit in dark) and it’s such an easy look. I also got a bottle of tea tree oil which has kept my skin on lock during the change of season. <3 iHerb

Wow you use dark? And you’re so fair! I so want the Tea Rose pencil to come back in stock

Yeah, I was a little skeptical at first, but I had been using quite a dark powder so it wasn’t a huge change!

  • Ahhh.. was particularly keen on the famed Queen Helene mask. I have dry skin too so a bit skeptical! Have to tried KOnjac sponges btw? I might order one of that too. Too many variants though …

    • lenatalksbeauty

I just got one a couple of days ago but I haven’t actually used it yet! I got the plain kind.

    • i tried konjac sponges…bought from luxola…But, it gave me bad breakouts…and stopped using..i head breakouts are common and when you continue using it- it goes off..But..I didn’t had the courage to do that

Great recommendations – I love iherb and really enjoy seeing what everyone else likes from there. I highly recommend checking out iherb’s selection of Real Techniques brushes!

  • great recommendations….I love that mint Julep mask too…totally agree that its a bit on the drier side…I put it on areas where there is acne and slightly wet the face and was it off once the mask dries completely….

Iherb is really a great..I am impressed by the fast shipping.. I have to get some ELF soon from them.

I used to use argan oil for my face. The one I used was Josie Maran argan oil- i got a value pack from sephora..It its the best argan oil I have ever tried…For my hair – I use moroccan oil from M&S. it;s pretty good…can be used as a pre wash and post wash treatment. I kind of like it…

    • The shipping is so good – it arrives so fast! I love ELF, they have a way better range on iherb than at Kmart. I’ve never used argan oil on my face actually! Thanks for reading 🙂
