My friend Jessie from Nailed it NZ has released her own line of nail art brushes, and sent me the Nailed it NZ Nail Tool Essentials Kit! Jessie is a trained nail technician, and has been producing nail art videos on YouTube for several years now. She created this line of nail art brushes to enable people to create their best nail art, and I wanted to put this to the test. I am not at all what you would call a nail artist, but I’ve watched enough of Jessie’s videos to feel confident putting the Nailed it NZ brushes to the test.
It’s time for another empties post! I didn’t use many products up during January so decided to make it a combined affair with February. Then everything seemed to run out all at once! I’ve been really trying to finish one product before opening another but we all know how hard that is. I have finished skin, hair, body, makeup, and nail items, so at least one from each of the main categories that I blog about. Some are even full size! Now, without further ado, let’s get stuck in. I’ll be linking in the titles to where I have reviewed the products previously.
Essie makes some of my absolute favourite nail polishes, and today I’m excited to show you Essie Naughty Nautical nail polish. If you’re following me on Instagram, you may have seen it featured there. I was given this by Essie back in December, and it seemed particularly appropriate since at the time my friend Sophia and I were obsessed with watching the reality TV show Below Deck. There are plenty of naughty nautical activities on their luxury super yachts, as I watched while I painted my nails. “Sail the sexy seas and chart a course for adventure in this shimmering, brilliant blue-green nail polish. Naughty never looked so nice”
As you may have seen on my Instagram I recently got sent a bundle of goodies from Essence, and in it included Essence The Gel Nail Polish in the shade Pretty Cool Life. Not to be confused with their Gel Nails at Home range, The Gel Nail Polish is Essence’s conventional polish range, which was formerly known as Color & Go. Unlike a traditional gel polish you don’t need a UV or LED lamp to cure Essence The Gel Nail Polish. My understanding is that it is similar to Sally Hansen Miracle Gel and Revlon Gel Envy ranges. I put this polish to the test over the last week, and now I’m sharing my review of Essence The Gel Nail Polish with you all.
A few months ago, I attended an event hosted by Bourjois Paris and was able to view a number of their new release products. We received an amazing goodie bag, and today I’m going to show you some of the nail polishes from their new La Laque Nail Enamel range. I have 03 Orange Outrant and 05 Are you Reddy, both beautiful bright colours perfect for summer.
Femme Fatale is an Australian indie cosmetics brand, and for a very long time I have lusted over them but I’ve never bought anything from there before….until now! I saw a post about their Midsummer Night’s Dream collection that included swatches of every single polish and I just couldn’t say no! This is Jewels From the Deep, which is a vibrant teal-blue base with green shimmers, olive green chameleon flakes, scattered holo and more!
Ulta3 is a brand of nail polish and makeup here in Australia and New Zealand, and recently I was given several of them at an event held by the brand. I actually already had a couple of them in my collection from when my friend Teresa moved overseas and cleaned out her polish, but I had yet to get around to using them. Since I suddenly had enough for one on each finger I decided to do a a skittle manicure. What’s that, you ask? Here’s an explanation from All Lacquered Up. Keep reading to see how it looked, and my thoughts on the polishes themselves.
Recently when I won a giveaway from Zoya New Zealand, they popped in some extras for me since I’m a blogger which was very kind. One of these is quite possibly the prettiest nail polish I’ve ever seen – Zoya Thea Pixie Dust Lacquer. Thea is a deep amethyst nail polish that is absolutely packed with holographic glitter. I have been totally transfixed by the glitter whenever it catches the sunlight – what can I say, I’m totally a magpie! I already own another of the Zoya Pixie Dust polishes and I absolutely love it.
A few months ago, I won a giveaway on the Zoya New Zealand Facebook page! It was for Zoya Savita Matte Velvet Lacquer, and I was so excited. I only have one Zoya polish and it’s so great that I was delighted to add more to my collection. Zoya also gave me some other products when they realised I had a blog, which was great, and I’ll be doing a proper review of them soon (eventually. I promise. I have so much I need to write about and not enough hours in the day!). For now, here is my review of Zoya Savita Nail Polish!
My friend Jessie is not just a nail art star on her youtube channel Nailed It NZ, but she is also a qualified nail technician. I’ve interviewed her with frequently asked questions about nail health, and general nail and nail polish queries. I found it really interesting, and I hope you will too! Do nails need to breathe? Not at all, the nail plate is made up of many layers of keratin, which is basically a bunch of dead cells. This means that your nails are dead, so giving them a “break to let them breathe” isn’t necessary. However, you can give your nails a break from nail polish if you want old stains to stains fade. (Note – I’ve got a video about this here)
