Beauty School Dropout is a brand new Kiwi makeup company that has launched a range of individual eyeshadow pans, and kindly sent some to me to review. They have made 29 colours which are designed to be stored in Z Palettes which is stocked on their website. The eyeshadows that I chose are Desert Storm, Unknown, GG, and Coffee Date. In this post I’ve swatched and reviewed these four shades for you all to see.
Confession time – until recently, I had never tried contouring. I was always too scared that it’d look muddy or unnatural, so I just decided to steer clear. That is, until Collection sent me their new contour kit and I decided to take the bull by the horns! In this post I’m going to give you a complete noob’s guide to contouring, and a review of the Collection contour kit.
During my recent trip to Melbourne, Priceline was having a 40% off cosmetics sale! Priceline is always one of my first stops in Australia, for makeup, skincare, haircare, and basically every product I want to buy. They have a great range of ‘drugstore’ brands, and include quite a few that we don’t have easily accessible in New Zealand. Makeup is generally cheaper in Australia than in NZ, so I was pretty excited by that! I didn’t actually end up buying a huge amount of makeup because my collection is a ridiculous size (I blame blogging for that), but I did get a few things from Australis, L’Oreal, and Maybelline.
YSL Touche Éclat Le Teint Awakening Foundation is the most luxurious foundation I have ever used, but does its performance match up to its beautiful packaging? YSL Touche Éclat highlighting pen is incredibly popular for it’s brightening and luminizing effects so it’s sister foundation was created in 2012. Now YSL Beauté have released an advanced formula which promises to deliver “sublime radiance, weightlessness, and the perfect coverage for an even and luminous skin enlivened with a healthy-looking glow”. I was lucky enough to be sent this by YSL and have been using it for the last few weeks, and will be sharing my review of it in this post.
‘What’s in my bag’ posts are always fascinating to me, and it’s been a really long time since I did one so I decided to show you what’s in my travel bag! By the time you read this I will be in Melbourne, visiting one of my best friends and attending as many comedy shows as we possibly can. The flight is only about four hours, but I still need to bring a fair few things with me since I’ll be travelling for most of the day. These items include beauty products, of course, and I’ll go into detail as to what beauty essentials make the cut for my travel bag.
Flamingo Park is the newest limited edition collection from MAC Cosmetics, and it is delightfully bright. As you may have seen on my social media, I was sent a lipstick, beauty powder, and lip gloss from this beautiful collection and today I’ll be reviewing them for you. “Plunge into the punchy pleasures of pink in a freshly made batch of scrumptious colours that let you have your cake, and wear it too. Glisten pretty on a sunny day with Powder Blush, a fun way to bring delicious colour to your cheeks. Paint it pink and get your just desserts anytime, but be ready to share!”
As part of their mega summer launch, Collection Cosmetics have released their Lasting Colour Lipstick range, and I have received four of them to review. Collection Lasting Colour Lipsticks come in 11 shades, of which 7 are gloss and 4 have Matte finishes. The four which I was sent are: Fig Delight, Cupcake Pink, Pretty in Peach and Pink Diva. I have been wearing them over the last couple of months which you may have seen on my social media, and now I can share my review of them all.
Something that I like to do from time to time is to take turns with a friend to play makeup artist on each other’s faces. It means we get to hang out, try different makeup products, and have the experience of doing someone else’s makeup which is actually so hard! This time my canvas was the lovely Laura of Laura Laura Blog. We met through the #brunchclub bloggers meet ups that she is an organiser for and now we are really close friends and talk pretty much every day. I loved having the opportunity to use some different makeup products like the Colourpop eyeshadows and her Urban Decay Naked 2 palette. Doesn’t Laura look beautiful? (the only acceptable answer is yes). Let’s have a closer look at her makeup I used a mixture of my makeup and her makeup, depending on what I thought would work best/my curiousity. We ended up with quite the makeup carnage on my bed and makeup table The products that I ended up using were the following: Dermalogica HydraBlur Primer Clinique CC cream Rimmel stay matte powder – transparent Collection concealer* Nars Orgasm blush Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette – Busted and Booty call eyeshadows Colourpop […]
Collection Cosmetics is having a massive launch of products this summer, and today I’m sharing with you the Eyes Uncovered Nude Bronze Palette. It’s in the vein of Urban Decay’s Naked palettes and other neutral palettes that have been so popular over the last few years, but at a more affordable price point. I was sent this by Collection, and my mum and I have reviewed it for you – read on to find out what we think.
MAC Cosmetics have released two Face Palettes as part of their Enchanted Eve holiday collection this year. One is cool, and one is wam, and I was sent the cool version of the palette as you may have seen in my post showing an overview of the 2015 MAC Holiday collections. I have done my best to do an entire face of makeup using the palette. Obviously it doesn’t include some products like foundation or mascara, but almost everything else on my face is from this palette. It goes to show how well coordinated the different product are, since they come together so nicely. The Enchanted Eve palette comes in a sturdy case, with bright acrylic across the front the kits in with the colour scheme of the wider MAC Holiday collections this year.
