MAC Cosmetics have released two Face Palettes as part of their Enchanted Eve holiday collection this year. One is cool, and one is wam, and I was sent the cool version of the palette as you may have seen in my post showing an overview of the 2015 MAC Holiday collections. I have done my best to do an entire face of makeup using the palette. Obviously it doesn’t include some products like foundation or mascara, but almost everything else on my face is from this palette. It goes to show how well coordinated the different product are, since they come together so nicely. The Enchanted Eve palette comes in a sturdy case, with bright acrylic across the front the kits in with the colour scheme of the wider MAC Holiday collections this year.
The most exciting time of year of for makeup lovers is upon us – beauty brands are releasing their holiday collections! I’m getting into the Christmas swing of things with some products from two of the three collections that MAC Cosmetics are releasing for this holiday season. They are Magic of the Night and Enchanted Eve, both of which are on sale now! I was sent these by MAC on Friday, so this is only a a post of my first impressions of the lipstick, pressed pigment (eyeshadow) and face palette. I wanted to give you all a look at them so you can rush to your local counters and shop up large because missing out on these would be terribly sad.
I’m Elese from elesedowden.com & today Lena’s kindly let me guest post about one of my favourite topics. Of all the not-red-nude-or-pink coloured lipsticks in the world, purple is probably the least intimidating to tackle. It’s not as scary as mint, blue or yellow (Colorpop Charm anyone?), and yet, it still says something between “Mac DeMarco at the King’s Arms – keen?” and “It’s possible that I’m edgier than a NSFW metareddit.”
Someone asked me the other day what my favourite pink lipsticks are. This was a seriously hard decision for me.I have so many pink lipsticks, it felt like I was trying to choose my favourite child – if I had 20 children. I ended up choosing lipsticks from Bourjois, NYX, MAC, Rimmel, and Karen Murrell. Read on to see which ones they are, and why they’re my favourite.
MAC Velvet Teddy lipstick and Whirl lip pencil have been hot property for a while now, primarily thanks to Kylie Jenner. For me, the reason I was inspired to buy these is actually due to Youtuber Brittney Lee Saunders. Velvet Teddy is her go-to lipstick and whenever I saw her wearing it I would say to myself ‘I really should buy that’. Then recently I was at NZ Fashion Weekend and there was a MAC stall…so of course I popped in and finally laid eyes on Velvet Teddy in person, and the rest is history! I got the Whirl lip pencil as well because the MAC makeup artist applied the two of them together for me, and it looked so nice that I couldn’t resist. I truly am a salesperson’s dream!
The latest collection from MAC Cosmetics is Vamplify – a collection of strongly pigmented, long wearing lip glosses, and lip pencils. “Be seduced by our most dramatic lip gloss yet. Loaded with high-powered pigments that hug lips in shades that glisten with a delicious shine, one swipe loads lips with attitude as a combination of lush natural oils polish with impeccable, moisturizing colour. Never a tease, the glossy colour wears comfortably for hours, for a look that comes on strong and doesn’t let go.” I was excited to receive two of these Vamplify glosses from MAC Cosmetics, and I have swatches, pictures of them on my face and full review, so read on!
The newest collection from MAC Cosmetics is inspired by dogs – that’s a sentence that I never thought I would write! Here is what they said about the new limited edition Haute Dogs collection: “(Wo)man’s best friend is barking up the right tree in a well-groomed collection of new canine-inspired hues from M·A·C, featuring luscious, buttery fur tones, gold-spun sculpting powders, and regal berries for lips.” I am actually scared of dogs, and was seriously phobic of them as a child, but you know what? I can get on board with this collection because I love MAC, and I love these colours! MAC have sent me two products for review – the Lap Dog Mineralise Lipglass, and Pure Bred Mineralise Eyeshadow quad.
This week is New Zealand Fashion Week, and I was lucky enough to be invited to attend one of the shows. It was the Wella Professionals Presents runway show featuring the Autumn/Winter 2016 looks from New Zealand designers Julian Danger and ITZME. The clothes were beautiful, and I also loved the look of one of the Julian Danger bags. Being a beauty blogger, I was paying particular attention to the makeup on the models. MAC Cosmetics did the makeup, and I have face charts and images of the models to share with you.
This month is the first anniversary of when I started doing empties posts! I went through a bit of a walk down memory lane, revisiting old posts and seeing what I thought of products from months gone by. During July I finished, or decided to throw away, a whopping ten products. The number of products coming in really outweighs those, but let’s not think about that! There are four makeup items, three skincare, one hair care, one nails, and one oral health product, so let’s get cracking with the reviews.
Last weekend, my friend Jordanne from Jordanne Leigh and I played makeup artist for the day, and did each other’s makeup. It was a great afternoon, with many cups of tea consumed, me cuddling her baby extensively, and then we got down to business. I really enjoyed being able to see all of her products, many of which I had never tried before. I’ve done other people’s makeup on a handful of occasions, but it’s always a challenge. Here is the beautiful finished result, and then I’ll go through what I used and how I applied it, to get the look that Jordanne is wearing.
