Early in 2016, MAC Cosmetics released their take on matte liquid lipsticks with their Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolour collection. I didn’t try them then, but now they’re back. This year’s Retro Matte collection is full of deep and muted tones, ready for the autum/winter season here in New Zealand. I was sent three of the shades from this range by MAC Cosmetics and in this post I will be showing you how they look as well as sharing my thoughts on them.
The Christmas season is fast approaching, and whilst some people have been shopping for months, others (me) leave it a bit later. The same goes for my gift guides – better late than never! I don’t typically write gift guides, because I find it hard enough to buy for my friends and family, let alone make suggestions for other people. However, I’ve been sent a number of press releases about some cool Christmas gift sets that I wanted to draw people’s attention to. Either you can buy them as gifts, or you can use this as a guide to shopping for yourself. The brands included in this post are MAC Cosmetics, Real Techniques, and Benefit Cosmetics – keep reading for more information.
MAC Technique classes have been relaunched with a broader range of workshops and seminars. There are now 13 technique focuses, from beauty basics to glam chic. I am a makeup enthusiast but I’ve never really learned how to apply makeup, aside from watching endless tutorials. So, when MAC invited me to attend a MAC Technique workshop I was ecstatic. The topic of the workshop I attended was Sculpt and Shade, and the description is as follows “Proper contouring can completely change the face shape. Learn how to emphasize flattering angles by creating dimension, symmetry and definition through shading and highlighting.” In this post I’ll give you the run down of the whole experience – from booking, to how the class worked.
MAC Good Luck Trolls is a limited edition collection that came out recently, and I’ve had some great fun trying out the products that MAC Cosmetics sent to me. The range of colours are rather unusual, and rather than trying to work them into some ‘everyday’ makeup looks I decided to go all out with them. This isn’t so much a makeup tutorial, more a look into the sort of madness a beauty blogger gets up to with fun new products, so I hope you enjoy!
Good Luck Trolls is MAC Cosmetics’ newest limited edition collection and it has filled me with glee. The packaging is bright, as are the colours contained inside. This post isn’t a full review as I only received my press samples a few days before the collection came out, but I wanted to give you all a look at what the collection is like – so you know to head to your local counters! I’ve also included pricing and store availability for MAC in New Zealand, since this information can be hard for us to find. “Hair we go! The wild-haired dolls of your youth bring their rainbow tufts, bejewelled bellies and lucky charms to M·A·C Good Luck Trolls – a crazy-hued collection as silly as the creatures themselves. From Lipglass in Bubble Butt to Eye Shadow in Suns Out, Buns Out and Beauty Powder in Glo Rida…being a troll has never been so glamorous!”
‘What’s in my bag’ posts are always fascinating to me, and it’s been a really long time since I did one so I decided to show you what’s in my travel bag! By the time you read this I will be in Melbourne, visiting one of my best friends and attending as many comedy shows as we possibly can. The flight is only about four hours, but I still need to bring a fair few things with me since I’ll be travelling for most of the day. These items include beauty products, of course, and I’ll go into detail as to what beauty essentials make the cut for my travel bag.
Flamingo Park is the newest limited edition collection from MAC Cosmetics, and it is delightfully bright. As you may have seen on my social media, I was sent a lipstick, beauty powder, and lip gloss from this beautiful collection and today I’ll be reviewing them for you. “Plunge into the punchy pleasures of pink in a freshly made batch of scrumptious colours that let you have your cake, and wear it too. Glisten pretty on a sunny day with Powder Blush, a fun way to bring delicious colour to your cheeks. Paint it pink and get your just desserts anytime, but be ready to share!”
MAC Cosmetics have kicked off 2016 with their new Faerie Whispers limited edition collection, and I have been sent some of their products to review for you all! “Let your innocence roam free. Transcend seasons with charmed hues inspired by the secret wondrous world of fairies. Eyes flutter impishly in new Foiled Shadows, in luminous wet or dry shades that flicker like morning mist. Feathery pinks for cheeks brighten the day, imbuing you with a spritely glow. Case a spell with rosy metallics for nails and pearl-lit nudes for lips, spinning glamour ‘til the moon turns to sun.” Keep reading for a closer look at the products that I’ve been sent, and my thoughts on each of them.
A few months ago I published a post that was a collection of outtakes of my photo shoots for blog photos. That was well received so I’ve decided to do another one! A lot of these are due to my brother – he often acts as my photographer when I can’t be bothered getting out the tripod and often he is quite naughty. He will snap away when I am NOT ready, and when I look at the photos afterwards I always laugh out loud. I hope you have a giggle at these, and I’ll also link to the posts which contain decent photos! I did not authorise this photo being taken. I don’t even know why I was making that horrible face! I just wanted him to take photos of some arm swatches for a post about the MAC Enchanted Eve Cool Face Palette* and this got snapped! The lipstick I’m wearing is also from the MAC Holiday collection this year and it is Evening Rendezvous lipstick from the Magic of the Night collection. You can read more about all the MAC Holiday collections for 2015 in my post here – I promise there are no terrible photos of […]
I know, it’s the middle of December and I’m writing about the beauty products that I used up in November. Better late than never, right? I finished up quite a few different products – hair care, skincare, makeup, and body. That was a mixture of full sized, and samples, and overall I’m feeling quite accomplished. By the way, when I say ‘repurchase’, some of them I didn’t actually purchase but got sent from brands, or got samples at counter but my evaluation remains the same – would I spend my money on them in the future. Right, now let’s get on with the reviews!
