As part of their mega summer launch, Collection Cosmetics have released their Lasting Colour Lipstick range, and I have received four of them to review. Collection Lasting Colour Lipsticks come in 11 shades, of which 7 are gloss and 4 have Matte finishes. The four which I was sent are: Fig Delight, Cupcake Pink, Pretty in Peach and Pink Diva. I have been wearing them over the last couple of months which you may have seen on my social media, and now I can share my review of them all.
MAC Cosmetics have kicked off 2016 with their new Faerie Whispers limited edition collection, and I have been sent some of their products to review for you all! “Let your innocence roam free. Transcend seasons with charmed hues inspired by the secret wondrous world of fairies. Eyes flutter impishly in new Foiled Shadows, in luminous wet or dry shades that flicker like morning mist. Feathery pinks for cheeks brighten the day, imbuing you with a spritely glow. Case a spell with rosy metallics for nails and pearl-lit nudes for lips, spinning glamour ‘til the moon turns to sun.” Keep reading for a closer look at the products that I’ve been sent, and my thoughts on each of them.
I was sent this beautiful lipstick from Smashbox a while ago, but I have been crazily busy with both work and personal stuff, so it has taken me a while to get around to actually writing about it. On the plus side, that means I can really give a thorough review of it, as opposed to if I might have only used something for a couple of weeks – although I always try to be thorough! This is from the original line of Smashbox Be Legendary lipsticks which are a cream formula, but they now have a range of matte lipsticks which I want to try too. The shade is Shock Me Pink, and it definitely is a shockingly bright pink.*
MAC Cosmetics have released two Face Palettes as part of their Enchanted Eve holiday collection this year. One is cool, and one is wam, and I was sent the cool version of the palette as you may have seen in my post showing an overview of the 2015 MAC Holiday collections. I have done my best to do an entire face of makeup using the palette. Obviously it doesn’t include some products like foundation or mascara, but almost everything else on my face is from this palette. It goes to show how well coordinated the different product are, since they come together so nicely. The Enchanted Eve palette comes in a sturdy case, with bright acrylic across the front the kits in with the colour scheme of the wider MAC Holiday collections this year.
I’m Elese from elesedowden.com & today Lena’s kindly let me guest post about one of my favourite topics. Of all the not-red-nude-or-pink coloured lipsticks in the world, purple is probably the least intimidating to tackle. It’s not as scary as mint, blue or yellow (Colorpop Charm anyone?), and yet, it still says something between “Mac DeMarco at the King’s Arms – keen?” and “It’s possible that I’m edgier than a NSFW metareddit.”
Bourjois is one of the oldest cosmetics houses, being founded in 1863 in France. It may have taken over 150 years but Bourjois is finally in New Zealand! I went to an event recently where we got to try a lot of their products, and learn more about the brand. I actually already had bought some Bourjois products, and received some for my birthday from a friend overseas, but I’m really glad that they’re in New Zealand now. I did a full face of makeup using exclusively Bourjois products, and here it is!
Someone asked me the other day what my favourite pink lipsticks are. This was a seriously hard decision for me.I have so many pink lipsticks, it felt like I was trying to choose my favourite child – if I had 20 children. I ended up choosing lipsticks from Bourjois, NYX, MAC, Rimmel, and Karen Murrell. Read on to see which ones they are, and why they’re my favourite.
MAC Velvet Teddy lipstick and Whirl lip pencil have been hot property for a while now, primarily thanks to Kylie Jenner. For me, the reason I was inspired to buy these is actually due to Youtuber Brittney Lee Saunders. Velvet Teddy is her go-to lipstick and whenever I saw her wearing it I would say to myself ‘I really should buy that’. Then recently I was at NZ Fashion Weekend and there was a MAC stall…so of course I popped in and finally laid eyes on Velvet Teddy in person, and the rest is history! I got the Whirl lip pencil as well because the MAC makeup artist applied the two of them together for me, and it looked so nice that I couldn’t resist. I truly am a salesperson’s dream!
I adore Karen Murrell lipsticks, as I have mentioned on here many times before. Every time I write about them, you all seem to be very interested in trying the lipsticks too. I’ve paired up with Karen Murrell to offer a giveaway! Two lucky readers will each be winning two Karen Murrell lipsticks – Red Shimmer and Fuschia Shock. To enter, please visit my Facebook page and comment which of the shades is your favourite. Liking the page isn’t a condition of entry, but I’d love it if you did! It’s a great way to keep up to date with my latest posts, as well as other snippets of my life, and photos of different things I’ve been trying. The winner will be chosen at random, and entries close Wednesday 12th August at 11:59pm NZ time. Entry is restricted to NZ residents only – sorry! Thanks to Karen Murrell for providing these lipsticks as prizes. For more about Red Shimmer and Fuschia fever, including swatches, visit my recent post. Good luck to all the entrants!
I have written multiple times about how lovely Karen Murrell lipsticks are. They are a beautiful texture, a great range of colours, aren’t tested on animals, and are from a New Zealand brand. Red Shimmer and Fuschia Shock are two from Karen Murrell’s lipstick line which I have recently been sent. Like the rest of the line, these lipsticks are gorgeous.I love the attention to detail that they give the packaging, with illustrations that fit with the theme of the shade.
