Beauty School Dropout is a brand new Kiwi makeup company that has launched a range of individual eyeshadow pans, and kindly sent some to me to review. They have made 29 colours which are designed to be stored in Z Palettes which is stocked on their website. The eyeshadows that I chose are Desert Storm, Unknown, GG, and Coffee Date. In this post I’ve swatched and reviewed these four shades for you all to see.
Recently when I won a giveaway from Zoya New Zealand, they popped in some extras for me since I’m a blogger which was very kind. One of these is quite possibly the prettiest nail polish I’ve ever seen – Zoya Thea Pixie Dust Lacquer. Thea is a deep amethyst nail polish that is absolutely packed with holographic glitter. I have been totally transfixed by the glitter whenever it catches the sunlight – what can I say, I’m totally a magpie! I already own another of the Zoya Pixie Dust polishes and I absolutely love it.
A few months ago, I won a giveaway on the Zoya New Zealand Facebook page! It was for Zoya Savita Matte Velvet Lacquer, and I was so excited. I only have one Zoya polish and it’s so great that I was delighted to add more to my collection. Zoya also gave me some other products when they realised I had a blog, which was great, and I’ll be doing a proper review of them soon (eventually. I promise. I have so much I need to write about and not enough hours in the day!). For now, here is my review of Zoya Savita Nail Polish!
I have written multiple times about how lovely Karen Murrell lipsticks are. They are a beautiful texture, a great range of colours, aren’t tested on animals, and are from a New Zealand brand. Red Shimmer and Fuschia Shock are two from Karen Murrell’s lipstick line which I have recently been sent. Like the rest of the line, these lipsticks are gorgeous.I love the attention to detail that they give the packaging, with illustrations that fit with the theme of the shade.
A long time ago (last year), I wrote a post entitled Microbead exfoliators are polluting the ocean. I had discovered that many exfoliators include plastic microbeads which are too small to be properly filtered in wastewater treatment plants – this includes products which purport to be natural. Since discovering this (and throwing out a couple of scrubs) I haven’t used a facial scrub at all. That is, until recently. I attended an event that Trilogy hosted for beauty bloggers and we were given the Trilogy Gentle Facial Exfoliant. The exfoliation in this comes from small jojoba wax beads that are smooth and gentle. Unlike more abrasive scrubs with rough shell or uneven pieces, using the Trilogy Gentle Exfoliant will not damage your skin and cause microtears. Jojoba beads are biodegradable, and this is the first product containing them that I have come across, and I have been checking the ingredients on every scrub that I see for about a year now.
Karen Murrell is a brand that I have been exposed to through blogging, and I am so glad about that, because her lipsticks are just wonderful. I’ll acknowledge that I have received all of the Karen Murrell lipsticks I own through the PR company that represents them but I absolutely would put my money where my mouth is and purchase them myself. This is the 20th lipstick in the range, and it is called True Love. “To celebrate my 20th lipstick I wanted to pay tribute to the love of my craft with a lust-worthy blue-based red. It had to be completely different from any red that I had designed before and it had to symbolise the love that I felt when I wore my first red lipstick” – Karen Murrell, Creative Director, Karen Murrell Lipsticks
The Nude by Nature have long been known for their loose mineral foundation, and it’s a product which I have used and liked. However, one thing I don’t like about loose powder foundations is that they can be incredibly messy to apply, and I undoubtedly end up with some down my front which is not so glamourous. Nude by Nature have added the Pressed Mineral Cover foundation to their range, and I was sent one to review. Unfortunately, the shade wasn’t right to me, so I gave it to my mum to try, and share her thoughts.
Did you know that Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics, of the famous Lip Tars, makes nail polish too? Well, now you do! I discovered this while browsing Complexions.co.nz which is an NZ-based site selling cruelty free beauty products. I purchased OCC Nail Lacquer – Spanglemaker because my magpie tendencies were very drawn to how shiny it is. Metallic silver polish is something I felt my collection was really lacking, and this needed to be rectified. Just to be straight up – I received a discount on my order in exchange for featuring the products.
Spring is here and Karen Murrell has the sweetest lipstick for this season! Inspired by the days of disco, it’s a candy pink called Sugar Rush*, and I am in love. It’s bright enough to be eye-catching, while still being suited to wear in the day time. I was lucky enough to be sent this, and have had so many compliments about how it looks while wearing it over the last couple of weeks. Karen Murrell lipsticks are made with natural ingredients such as Avocado oil which is hydrating for the lips, and Carnuba wax that has a high melting point so it won’t melt in your handbag in the summer sun. The finish is semi-matte but it doesn’t feel drying on the lips at all which is good for lips like mine which have suffered through a dry winter. The RRP is $29.95 and I think the quality is better than lipsticks from much more expensive brands. Karen Murrell lipsticks are never tested on animals and they are ‘vegetarian lipsticks’ – not vegan, as they do include beeswax. Sugar Rush, and all other Karen Murrell lipsticks, are available from pharmacies and health food stores nationwide – to locate stockists […]
Like most beauty-lovers, I knew of Sigma Beauty’s brushes, but I had no idea they sold makeup until I won a giveaway from Catwalk Cult! Kershia sent me the Sigma Creme de Couture Macaron inspired collection, which was a limited edition release consisting of three blushes and a palette with 16 eyeshadows, all inspired by the colours of macarons.
