Finding a foundation that matches is hard enough, but finding a concealer that matches that as well is a struggle. Revlon have come up with a way to solve this problem by creating the new Revlon 2-in-1 Compact Makeup & Concealer which I was lucky enough to be sent by Revlon before it was released. I’ve reviewed the compact, as well as showing how the Colorstay foundation looks on my skin.
I had never actually used the normal Revlon Colorstay, however my mum owns 8 bottles at last count so I had faith that it would be a good product. I went to my local Revlon counter and the sales assistant there matched me to the shade Nude. The shades available are: Natural Beige, Sand Beige, Medium Beige, Buff, Nude, Natural Tan, True Beige, Ivory, and Warm Golden. The shade range isn’t the widest, pale or dark skinned women may miss out which is a shame, but fortunately for me Nude matched me well.
The compact comes with a sponge, and also includes a mirror, which makes it perfect to pop in your handbag and take away on holiday.
Now – what you’re really here for is to see how the Colorstay foundation looked on my skin. Nude matched me well, and for context I wear NW20 in MAC foundations and 120 in Maybelline foundations. I don’t get much more tanned in summer so this shade will suit me year round. In the photo below I’m only wearing the Colorstay foundation, no other products on top or below. I applied it using the included sponge, I have experimented with other sponges and brushes but this works best for it.
The Colorstay 2 in 1 Compact foundation is a light to medium coverage foundation, with the use of the included concealer it would build to a medium coverage. I believe that liquid Revlon Colorstay foundation is full coverage so that’s something to bear in mind if you are used to using that. In the photo below I have used the concealer, and set it with some translucent powder. In the summer heat we are currently having in New Zealand, powder is an essential.
Since being sent this in late December, I have worn the Revlon Colorstay makeup and concealer compact to work most days. It’s easy to swipe onto my skin for a nice coverage that won’t melt off my face in the humidity. If I’m going out in the evening or to an event I do want a more full coverage but this is perfect for every day wear.
What do you think of the look of the Revlon 2-in-1 Colorstay compact? I’d love to hear what you think in the comments section.
