November Empties

MAC foundation, clinique sample, marc jacobs dot - lena talks beauty.31

I know, it’s the middle of December and I’m writing about the beauty products that I used up in November. Better late than never, right? I finished up quite a few different products – hair care, skincare, makeup, and body. That was a mixture of full sized, and samples, and overall I’m feeling quite accomplished. By the way, when I say ‘repurchase’, some of them I didn’t actually purchase but got sent from brands, or got samples at counter but my evaluation remains the same – would I spend my money on them in the future. Right, now let’s get on with the reviews!

November empties - Tresemme, neutrogena, mac, clinique and giovanni

Tresemme Colour Revitalising Conditioner & Tresemme Thermal Recovery Replenishing Shampoo

I’m reviewing these together, since I have been using the TreSemme range for years and years. It’s a fairly cheap supermarket brand and it does a good job on my hair. I don’t notice a huge difference between the different varieties, all of them have worked well for me.

Repurchase? I will in the future

Giovanni Hot Chocolate Sugar Scrub

I bought this on a whim when browsing iherb and oh boy was that a great decision. This smells like hot chocolate and I want to eat it. It’s not the most exfoliating scrub on earth but it leaves my body feeling smooth and smelling delicious.

Repurchase? Yes, in the future – for now I have bought the Giovanni Cool Mint Lemonade Salt Scrub for some variety.

Oasis Beauty Hot Toddy Super Hydrating Serum*

I looooooooove this, like I love everything from Oasis Beauty. Hot Toddy really helped to keep my skin hydrated through the harsh winter. I wrote about it in more detail in a post a few months ago which you can read here.

Repurchase? Absolutely!!!

Oasis Beauty Apple A Day Moisturiser (sample)

I received this sample at an event, and it’s not the first time I’ve tried it, but it’s always nice to try things again. I liked the moisturiser but the apple scent was just a little bit too much for me, I could smell it even after I had put my makeup on and I didn’t like how it combined with my perfume.

Repurchase? No

Konjac Sponge

Konjac sponges were a big craze in a beauty group I’m in last year, and naturally I jumped on that band wagon. I was really into it for a while but I’m just too impatient to soak it in water before washing my face every time so it got neglected. Then it went a little bit mouldy so time to say goodbye.

Repurchase? No.

Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cream

Kiehl’s counters are really generous with their samples which I love – some brands ask like you’re asking for a vial of their blood if you want to try something before you buy it, but they even OFFER. I love how deeply moisturising this facial cream is, because if you’ve ever read this blog before one thing you will know is that I have dry skin.

Repurchase? Maybe, depending on the price.

Clinique Anti-Blemish Foundation (sample)

I have a full post in the works about this, but the summary is – LOVE IT. I had been using MAC foundations for a few years but decided to try this and I am so glad that I did. Lately I use either this Anti-Blemish foundation or my Clinique CC cream.

Repurchase? Yes!

MAC Mineralize Foundation (sample)

I wanted to explore some other MAC foundations after I finished my Studio Sculpt (and stupidly threw it away after my empties post, rather than saving to for Back to MAC :(). The MAC artist was very helpful and gave me a sample of the MAC Mineralize Foundation in the shade NW20 but unfortunately it wasn’t quite right for me.

Repurchase? No.

Dot by Marc Jacobs fragrance (sample)

Marc Jacobs perfumes are all so lovely smelling. If I didn’t already own an excessive number of perfumes, I would probably buy this!

Repurchase? Hopefully one day.

Kmart Beautycare Co Facial Wipes

I bought these at a desperate time, the morning after sleeping on my friend’s couch with a full face of makeup. They are THE WORST. They stung my skin, eyes, and didn’t even do a great job at removing makeup. It seems that you get what you pay for and I will be sticking to my trust Simple makeup remover wipes. I used up this packet to remove swatches from my skin when doing blog photos.

Repurchase? I’d literally rather go out in public still wearing last night’s makeup.

Glamourflage Halo Helen Facial Cleanser

This came in a Goodie Box last year, so I have no idea where it’s even sold. I don’t have a huge amount to say about it really, it’s a fine cleanser but really nothing special.

Repurchase? No

Nu-pore Moisturizing Gloves

I didn’t really think that these would be revolutionary, especially after I used the moisturising socks  but I’m a sucker for novelty products especially when they’re really cheap. These were about 50c on iherb and it seems you get what you pay for. It was about as moisturising as just putting on any normal hand cream.

Repurchase? Nope

Neutrogena Hydro Boost mask*

I wrote a whole post about these the other week and the summary is I love them.

Repurchase? Yes!

Phew – I’m exhausted! I’d love to hear your feedback on these products if you’ve tried any of them? So far it doesn’t look like December will have many empties but I’m about to use a couple of sheet masks so we’ll see how we go!
