Maybelline Color Drama Intense Velvet Lip Pencil

Maybelline New York has a new product, and it’s going to bring some drama to your lips! It is the Maybelline Color Drama Intense Velvet Lip Pencil*, and don’t mistake it for your typical lip liner pencil. This pencil is applied just like a lipstick, and it’s fabulous. I wore it a lot of my recent holiday, and I now want the whole range of ten colours.

Bright pink lipstick is perfect for summer – or all year round really! When initially applied, it has a creamy texture to it but I found that during the day it wore off to be more matte. This was fairly long lasting – after a coffee and snack I didn’t need to reapply, but I did after lunch.

I would much rather have four of these, because the quality is good and I love having a variety of products. I have quite a few bright pink lipsticks, but I really liked how long wearing this was and how it was semi-matte.

I didn’t find it drying at all, like many matte lip products can be, and it wore off evenly – not flaky or gross. The pencil makes it easy to apply precisely around the cupids bow which I like. It is a thick pencil, so you would need a wide pencil sharpener to keep it precise as the tip wears down through use.

Outside of New Zealand, I would expect them to be available at Maybelline stands in drugstores and department stores.
If you’d like to have a look at swatches of some of the other shades you can pop over to Just Julie – she’s a UK-based blogger I really like.
