Makeup gift sets for Christmas – MAC, Real Techniques, & Benefit

The Christmas season is fast approaching, and whilst some people have been shopping for months, others (me) leave it a bit later. The same goes for my gift guides – better late than never! I don’t typically write gift guides, because I find it hard enough to buy for my friends and family, let alone make suggestions for other people. However, I’ve been sent a number of press releases about some cool Christmas gift sets that I wanted to draw people’s attention to. Either you can buy them as gifts, or you can use this as a guide to shopping for yourself. The brands included in this post are MAC Cosmetics, Real Techniques, and Benefit Cosmetics – keep reading for more information.

Nutcracker Sweet Collection

“Leap into a magical land that’s a bit nutty, a little naughty, and bursting with whimsy. Lose yourself in an eccentric kingdom of oversized treats and rosy-cheeked nutcrackers. Twist, turn and tumble deeper into the Land of Dolls. Out story has only begun”

MAC’s holiday collections are always stunning, and this year is no exception. The Nutcracker themed packaging is beautiful, as are the products contained inside. There is a wide range of individual products, from lipsticks to eyeshadow palettes, but what I always find most exciting are the gift sets. Several of the gift sets include mini sized products, which is great because you get to try more products. A pigments would take a very long time to ever finish, so it’s nice to get the value of having lots of different ones.

Nutcracker Sweet Bronze Pigments and Glitter Kit  RRP $95

  • Sugar Rush pale peach (pigment)
  • Stardream metallic nude peach (pigment)
  • Handsome Prince warm bronze (pigment)
  • Reigning Riches copper glitter (glitter)

Real Techniques

Multitask Set

Buying makeup for other people can be a bit nerve-wracking, as it can be hard to be sure what they will suit. In that case, buying brushes is a good option as there’s no need for colour matching or to know their skin type. I adore all of my Real Techniques brushes, and they have some great holiday sets available from iHerb. One that I would recommend is the Multitask set due to it’s versatility. The brushes are exclusive to this set so you will be sure that the recipient doesn’t already have them.

  • Multitask face brush: angled cut can be used to set powder, apply bronzer and contour face
  • Multitask cheek brush: extreme tapered cut can be used to apply color to apples of the cheeks, highlight the cheekbone and contour
  • Multitask eye brush: soft tapered cut can be used to apply color to the crease, highlight the brow bone and softly smudge along lash line
  • Design panoramic case: dual carrier and stand keeps brushes organized on your counter or on the go

The Real Techniques Multitask set is $14.99 from iHerb – their shipping is always very quick so no need to stress about it arriving in time for Christmas.

Benefit Cosmetics

Do the Hoola

Benefit have a number of adorably packaged holiday gift sets with a variety of themes, from brows to skin, but the one I’m showing here is the Do The Hoola kit. It’s based around the cult favourite Hoola bronzer and includes:

  • Dew the Hoola Liquid Bronzer.
  • They’re Real! Mascara in Black.
  • Benebalm.
  • Ultra Plus Lip Gloss in Hoola.
  • Hoola Bronzing Powder.
  • Helpful tips and tricks.

The Do The Hoola kit is $56 NZD from Sephora NZ or $59 AUD from Sephora AU.

So there you have it – three cool options for Christmas gifts for the makeup lover in your life. If you’re after some low-cost ideas for gifts, perhaps for a secret santa, my friend Ingrid has shared some great options on her blog. She has 7 beauty gift ideas, all under $25 and some under $5 as well. You’ll need to get a little bit crafty but it’s not too Pinterest-y thank goodness. Check it out on Fabulous and Fun Life.
