Don’t you just love it when you buy a dress that makes you feel like a million bucks? I do, and last year I bought 3 of them. Meet the Lady Voluptuous Lyra dresses. Lady V London is a brand of vintage styled clothing, with Lady Voluptuous being the name of their plus size range. This range is produced in collaboration with Georgina from Fuller Figure, Fuller Bust blog. The Lyra has the look of a wrap dress with the cross over at the top, but does not actually tie to close. There is a waist tie that you can tie at the front to simulate that wrap look, and it has a full skirt that goes to my knees. Some styles are made with long sleeves, and other have shorter sleeves. The fabric flows nicely across my curves which is very flattering.

This was my first Lyra dress, bought to celebrate my birthday last year. I was a bit nervous about wearing such a bold pattern, but it turned out that I get compliments every single time I wear it!
When I did my photo shoot with Emma back in May, I wore both my flamingo Lyra and my purple butterfly Lyra. They made me feel so confident. In the photo below, you can see that I’ve tied it at the back.

This Lyra is one with long sleeves, which was great for going out at night during winter. I prefer to wear long sleeves, rather than having to ruin a great outfit with something drab like a black cardigan. Perfect to pair with stockings and heels, it’s taken me from dinner to a night club all in one night.

Here we have my latest Lyra purchase, bought for my work Christmas party! I really liked the floral pattern, and the base purple colour. Everyone loved it, I got so many great comments on it. Without fail, every time I wear a Lyra I get compliments, particularly on the patterns. They do also make them in plain colours, but I prefer the fun patterns.
Lady Voluptuous Lyra dresses have a size range of 16 to 32. The measurement chart is accurate, with sizing stacking up against typical UK/AU/NZ sizes. The fabric is stretchy and there is a waist tie so it doesn’t need to be too tight of a fit. My first Lyra was a 22/24, and my most recent is an 18, as I’ve lost some weight during the last year. I can still fit my largest dress by tying it tightly, but I won’t be able to for much longer.
Where to buy:
I have bought most of my Lady V dresses from Two Lippy Ladies, a shop in Napier, New Zealand that also sells online. Lyra dresses usually sell for $129 NZ from Two Lippy Ladies, with free shipping NZ wide and $15 international. The customer services from Two Lippy Ladies is great. When I visited the shop a few months ago and they spent ages helping me find a dress I loved. Shipping is always fast too, arriving within 3 or 4 days. The prices are similar to City Chic, which is where I bought most of my dresses before discovering Two Lippy Ladies. The added bonus is that chances are none of your friends will have the same outfit!
I bought my paisley Lyra direct from Lady V London, and it was on sale for £33.75 ($64NZD), with the usual retail price being £45 ($85). Shipping was £12 ($23), which did bump up the price by a lot but if I’d bought several items it would’ve been better value. The dress arrived in 7 days which I was impressed by, since it was coming from the opposite side of the world.
So there you have it – the beautiful Lady V London Lady Voluptuous Lyra dress! I hope you enjoyed my very first fashion post – I intend to write more in the future. If this post inspires you to purchase one, send me a photo on Instagram or Twitter, I’d love to see your picks.
