For Christmas my stepsister Raquel gave me the Kylie Cosmetics Dirty Peach Lip Kit. She asked if I wanted anything when she went to the Kylie pop up shop but I wasn’t sure about what shades there were so I told her to just pick one. She told me that the sales assistant said it was one of their most popular shades, and was versatile for different skin tones. Dirty Peach is a mid-tone yellow peach and it’s unlike any other lipstick shade I have. However, it is still perfectly wearable for my fairly conservative receptionist job. In this post I’ve got a review and swatches of the Kylie Cosmetics Dirty Peach Lip Kit, so keep reading.
The Dirty Peach Lip Kit contains a matte liquid lipstick and a lip pencil. I’ve mostly worn the liquid lipstick on it’s own, but the two pair well together and it’s longer lasting that way too. There has been a lot of talk online how Kylie Cosmetics is made by the same company as Colourpop, and after comparing the Kylie lip pencil to a Colourpop lippie pencil I can definitely see the similarity. In future I’d probably buy the liquid lipstick on it’s own as I don’t really use lip pencils that much.
I resisted the Kylie Cosmetics craze for so long, because despite being a Kardashian fan since watching Keeping up with the Kardashians in 2009, Kylie’s aesthetic didn’t really appeal to me. I guess I might be a bit too old to be her target market. The personality aspect aside, her cosmetics that I’ve tried are very good quality. Raquel has one of the Kyshadow palettes and says it’s great. The other week I was at a party and my friend Rhiannon happened to be wearing Dirty Peach as well. Of course we had to take a selfie together!
I’ve largely stayed away from matte liquid lipsticks despite the trend raging on, because some of the earlier ones I tried were too dry for my liking. One of them, the Australis Velourlips, I wore twice and then never again. According to Kylie Cosmetics website, “the extremely long wearing lipstick contains moisturizing ingredients for a comfortable, emollient and silky feel that does not dry your lips out.” I find this quite comfortable to wear, and it is long lasting. The formula is more similar to something like the Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipsticks.
My lips look dry close up for this photo, but from a normal distance it looks and feels fine. I tend to top up my lipstick after I have lunch but it survives coffee and water. I see some bloggers wanting all day wear for lipstick but that just NEVER happens for me. I’m not sure if it’s my endless water drinking or if I lick my lips too much or what? The Kylie liquid lipstick is probably one of the most long lasting that I have ever worn.
The Kylie Cosmetics Dirty Peach Lip Kit is $29 USD and available only from Kylie Cosmetics website. Purchased individually a liquid lipstick is $17 and a lip pencil is $14. There are a lot of fake websites out there, so be carefule where you buy from. If you see lip kits for sale at your local market stalls…they’re fakes! Now I really want to make an order from her website, since the pop up shop is now closed.
