FOTD with Maybelline Fit Me Foundation

With the help of Maybelline’s chart, I recently discovered that Maybelline Fit Me Foundation is supposed to be my perfect match. I was sent it to try out and today I’ll be sharing my thoughts, as well as a look that I did the other weekend wearing it. I’ve called this a FOTD (Face Of The Day) but really it’s more like FOTOD (Face Of The Other Day). My skin is dry, and I like to wear a dewy foundation, so this sounded just right for me. I chose shade 120 – Classic Ivory based on my MAC shade being NW20, and luckily it was right! The ten shades available in New Zealand range from 115 Ivory to 310 Sun Beige.

In these photos, I applied my Maybelline Fit Me Foundation with my Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge, but I’ve also used it with my XO Beauty flat top foundation brush when I can’t be bothered getting up from my makeup table to wet the Real Techniques sponge (god I’m lazy haha). I found that it blended into my skin very nicely and wasn’t at all streaky or cakey, which can be a concern with my dry skin. I would have preferred slightly more coverage – in the photo below you can still see a fair bit of my acne redness coming through.

With the addition of a bit of concealer (Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer in shade 2 light medium) and powder I was very happy with the coverage, despite what this rather somber photo might lead you to believe.

I used this opportunity to wear for the first time the Maybelline Color Tattoo Pressed Pigment in Wild Gold – I was sent it almost a year ago, but wasn’t sure how to incorporate the colour into a look. Maddy wears it all the time so I decided to give it a whirl, and figured that I was going to be in a dimly lit restaurant so if it didn’t look great it wasn’t the end of the world. I’m still not entirely sure it suits me, but I liked playing with a bit more colour.

My lipstick is Bite Beauty – Palomino (available from Sephora NZ and Sephora AU). In retrospect I might not have worn such a bright lip with the pigment on my eyes, but I still like the way the look came together. Life is too short to be hesitant when it comes to bold makeup I think. I felt pretty and confident, and what could be more important?

  • I think you look stunning and the lip and the eye combo work well. I too have the fit me foundation based on the charts recommendation and was suprised at how well I actually liked it! Haha x

    • Thanks Analesha! I usually don’t use ‘drugstore’ foundations as in the past I didn’t like them but it seems they’ve come a long way!

Looks gorgeous on you! I use Maybelline Fit Me foundation for ‘around the house’ makeup as it’s so quick to apply (but doesn’t look as good as my Revlon ColorStay, which I use for going out) 🙂

    • It’s definitely quick and easy to apply! I’ve never used ColorStay but my mum has about 8 different bottles of it!

That is far better coverage than I expected! Love the lippy too!

  • I like your face! I’ve tried this before and found the coverage to my liking, but it was just a little on the dewy and oily side for me. Now that my skin is drier it might be worth another go!

  • gosh! I don’t know how but I always thought fit me was for oily skin. What an enlightenment* I love dewy finish too. I am gonna enter that giveaway so i can win some. Haha

    • I think the sticks might be more suited for oily skin, but this definitely works well for me. Glad to have enlightened you! Good luck.
