As you may have seen on my Instagram I recently got sent a bundle of goodies from Essence, and in it included Essence The Gel Nail Polish in the shade Pretty Cool Life. Not to be confused with their Gel Nails at Home range, The Gel Nail Polish is Essence’s conventional polish range, which was formerly known as Color & Go. Unlike a traditional gel polish you don’t need a UV or LED lamp to cure Essence The Gel Nail Polish. My understanding is that it is similar to Sally Hansen Miracle Gel and Revlon Gel Envy ranges. I put this polish to the test over the last week, and now I’m sharing my review of Essence The Gel Nail Polish with you all.
Essence Gel Nail Polish range includes a base coat and top coat, but I didn’t have them. I used Orly Bonder as my base, and HK Girl Glisten and Glow top coat, which are my go-tos. This polish was almost opaque in one coat, but I added a second coat just to be sure.
Ta da! I was really pleased with how well it applied. The brush is lovely, it almost covered my entire nail in only one stroke. The bottles are quite small, only 8ml (0.27fl.oz) but in reality, who ever finishes a nail polish? Certainly not me. If you do happen to finish it, then you can always buy another fresh one.
I was impressed with the lasting power of the polish. I painted my nails on Sunday morning, and got one small chip on Thursday morning. I’m writing this post on Saturday afternoon, and while most of the nails have tip wear from me typing all day every day, they still look pretty good. Someone like my mum would just touch it up, but I like to change my polish often. One of our regular customers at my work always checks to see which polish I’m wearing each week.
Overall I’m stoked with this polish. I want to buy more from this range, especially knowing how affordable they are! Essence The Gel Nail Polish is $3.60 NZD. Essence is available in New Zealand from Farmers and Pricewise stores.
What do you think of this polish? Have you tried Essence Nail Polish before?
