After last month’s epic empties post, I have a significantly emptier empties box for December. At least that means I can actually to do a decent review of each product without my post being thousands of words long! I have 7 items this month, mostly skincare and mostly full sized too which is impressive.
Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water
I bought this micellar water about 18 months ago, and have finally finished it! I didn’t used to wear makeup to work every day so it took me a while to get through. I mostly have been using this, interspersed with various wipes and cleansers. I’m not a huge fan of having to use cotton pads as well, I’d rather use an oil cleanser or just wipes if I’m feeling lazy. It does do a very good job at removing makeup, even eye makeup or heavy foundation, but I still always cleanse afterwards because I like to have a fresh feeling face.
Repurchase? Probably not.
Cetaphil Moisturising Cream
I have been using Cetaphil for well over a decade now, ever since it was first recommended to me by my Dermatologist. I like changing things up and using a variety of different products, but whenever my skin gets irritated this is what I always come back to. It leaves my skin feeling smooth and soft, and it’s so cheap. It would be even more cost effective to buy it in a 500g tub but the tube is easier to travel with and doesn’t get contaminated by bacteria or anything on fingers. I only use this at night, but I see on Amazon that there’s an SPF 50 version which would be good for daily use – I haven’t seen it in NZ stores though.
Repurchase? Definitely! I’m surprised I didn’t have a back up already.
MediHeal Teatree Healing Solution Essential Mask
Teatree oil is known for being good for acne, and I like using sheet masks, so I was pretty excited to use this. However, it didn’t really do anything for me since it was just a one time use. The packet says it’s most effective to use 2-3 times a week for 4 weeks, so perhaps that would be a better idea. I bought this at Japan Mart in Albany Mall, but you can buy boxes of the masks on Amazon.
Repurchase? No, I probably wouldn’t remember to use them often enough.
Lush Lemony Flutter Cuticle Butter
This is my absolute jam. I apply it every day, and it keeps my cuticles and nails so well moisturised. My friend Jessie is a nail technician and she says that regularly cuticle oil/balm is the best thing that you can do for your nails. I regularly wash my hands because of my job, and use acetone on my nails, and they’re still in good condition because I use Lemony Flutter. I have some cuticle oils in the traditional brush format and they’re just not as easy to quickly slather on.
Repurchase? As soon as it’s back in stock on the Lush website I will!!
The Body Shop Mango Hand Cream
This is a handy little hand cream that I bought from Mighty Ape on a bit of a whim. It’s compact, smells great, and is decently moisturising. I liked it so much that I cut open the tube to get the last of it out. I love the Mango scent, and my boyfriend actually bought me a mango gift set from The Body Shop for Christmas which I’m thrilled about.
Repurchase? Maybe in the future, I have lots of other hand creams.
Benefit Roller Lash Mascara*
I wore this mascara religiously for most of this year, as you can see by it’s presence in 5 out of my 9 most liked instagram photos for 2015. Sadly, all good things must come to an end. The last time I wore my Roller Lash it was all clumpy and it’s just time for the bin. It’s been a good 9 months or so. I always thought expensive mascaras were no better than drugstore ones, but this changed my mind.
Repurchase? Once I’ve finished up a few others first.
Bossy Makeup Brush Shampoo*
I was sent this to review about a year ago, and have used it regularly ever since. It does a great job, especially when combined with the Bossy Brush Cleansing pad. I like the subtle scent it has, and it really gets my brushes clean. However, I’m a sucker for novelty so I’ve bought the new Real Techniques Deep Cleansing Gel from iHerb and will be using that for now.
Repurchase? Probably in the future.
So that’s everything! Have you tried any of these products? Do you agree or disagree with my reviews on them – I always like reading people’s comments about products I’ve reviewed.
