Collection Cosmetics recently launched their Naturally Matt Foundation here in New Zealand, and sent some to me to review. I typically don’t wear matte foundations, but I decided to give this a try in the interests of being a good beauty blogger. I’m glad I did, as it’s a lovely foundation – not chalky or dry like other matte foundations that I’ve tried previously. I’m not entirely sure why it’s ‘matt’ as opposed to ‘matte’ – it makes me think it’s a boy which is kind of funny.
“Mineral enriched for a fresh flawless complexion”
The range of shades in the Collection Naturally Matt Foundation is limited – they are Porcelain 1, Ivory 2, and Cool Beige 3. However, I read online that they have an expanded shade range in the UK so perhaps it will make it’s way here eventually. I have been wearing Ivory 2, which matches my cool light skin tone (MAC NW20 for reference)
When I wear the Collection Naturally Matt Foundation I typically apply it with my Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge to obtain a smooth and even finish. It has a light to medium coverage, depending on how heavily you apply it. I make use of the Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer in Cool Medium 2 in order to ensure my blemishes are fully covered. In the photos below, I’m only wearing the foundation – no primer, concealer, or anything else.
My cheeks and jaw are where I have the most acne, and hyper-pigmentation from previous breakouts, so I could have done with more coverage there
Here I am with a full face of makeup – I’ve added concealer, a touch of powder, blush, as well as eye and lip products.
The Collection Naturally Matt Foundation is sold at Countdown supermarkets in NZ and has an RRP of $15.99. For international stockists visit Collection Cosmetics here. I’m quite impressed by this foundation, especially considering the affordable price.
