This post combines my empties from March and April, since I didn’t get the chance to write a post at the end of March. I finished or decided to throw away 9 different items over those two months, from makeup to skincare, haircare, body and more. The empties are from Models Prefer, Essence, Real Techniques, Za, La Roche-Posay, and Lush. Get ready for a long post, because I have a lot to say about them – maybe make yourself a cup of tea, I’ll be waiting right here.
It’s that time again – empties time! As usual, I’ve collected all of the beauty products that I’ve finished during the month and will be reviewing them all. I finished (or decided to throw out) 7 products and this time they were all skincare. My empties are from Weleda, Fuss Free Naturals, Neutrogena, Dr Bronner’s, Clinique, Innisfree and Tony Moly – keep reading for my reviews.
My skin has never been great, and the last few years that has been particularly true. I’ve been trying every skincare product under the sun, especially because I’m lucky enough to get a lot sent to me, but I haven’t had any great success. Finally, I said enough was enough, and I needed to develop a consistent daily skincare routine. This routine includes products from Skinfood, Trilogy, Cetaphil, La Roche Posay, Antipodes, and Clinique.
During January I managed to finish a respectable five products, as well as deciding to throw out a couple of things that I just never use. They were: Trilogy botanical body wash*, Eleven miracle hair treatment, Neutrogena Hydro Boost SPF 15 as well as a sample size, Manicare Cuticle Therapy Oil, Kleancolour Madly Matte top coat, and Jordana calcium basecoat. All bar one of them were full sized as well, so that’s a good effort. I haven’t been wearing as much makeup lately because it is SO HOT and humid here in Auckland so that probably explains why everything is skincare, hair, body, and nail products. Eleven Miracle Hair Treatment I got this in a subscription box way back in September 2014! I went back to see what I wrote about it when I originally got it and I said “Even considering how much I need to use for my long hair, I think this would last a fairly decent amount of time, so it’s good value for money” – well I was right! I used this the majority of times that I wash my hair and I always noticed a difference in how it dried. Repurchase? Probably, I’m currently using a […]
Today I am doing a Lush haul – I’ll be showing you the great products that I bought recently, and giving you my first impressions of the product. It’s not a full review of them, mainly because I was too excited and didn’t want to wait. The products that I bought are Lemony Flutter Cuticle Butter, Dirty Toothy Tabs, Soft Coeur Massage Bar, and Stepping Stone foot scrub. Three of the four items are things I’ve never tried, but they came highly recommended by friends so I took the plunge and threw my usual cautious researching to the wind. I don’t usually do haul posts, mainly because I haven’t been shopping much for the last year or so, and also because when I do buy things I get really excited and post them on instagram immediately and then tear into them…and maybe review them a few months later. NOT THIS TIME THOUGH. I tore into it in my car, but then I got down to taking photos before I started using them. Such dedication.
After last month’s epic empties post, I have a significantly emptier empties box for December. At least that means I can actually to do a decent review of each product without my post being thousands of words long! I have 7 items this month, mostly skincare and mostly full sized too which is impressive.
I know, it’s the middle of December and I’m writing about the beauty products that I used up in November. Better late than never, right? I finished up quite a few different products – hair care, skincare, makeup, and body. That was a mixture of full sized, and samples, and overall I’m feeling quite accomplished. By the way, when I say ‘repurchase’, some of them I didn’t actually purchase but got sent from brands, or got samples at counter but my evaluation remains the same – would I spend my money on them in the future. Right, now let’s get on with the reviews!
If, like me, you are yet to buy any Christmas presents, then this is the post for you! Alternatively, if you’ve smugly sorted your Christmas presents then you are still welcome, as who knows, you may be in need of some skincare for yourself. Today I’m reviewing two skincare sets from New Zealand based companies that both harness the powers of natural oils. They are the Trilogy Rosapene™ Beauty Collection and the Goodness Grab & Go Try-Me Kit. Read on to find out what the sets are comprised of, and why I like them so much…
Sheet masks have long been popular in Asian skincare, but they’ve now made their way into Western skincare brands which I am very excited about. What is a sheet mask? A sheet mask is a thin sheet of cotton which is soaked in a liquid toner, serum, or essence. They have a variety of different purposes, but the type I like to use the most are moisturising. The new Neutrogena Hydro Boost Mask* fits into that category, as it uses Hyaluronic Acid which adds a lot of moisture to the skin.
This month my empties box actually OVERFLOWED! So, I’ve actually split this post into two – today is skincare, hair, and nail products and later in the week we’ll get to makeup. Some of the things in this post aren’t empties in the true sense of the word, but they are products I’m throwing away, so they count.
