Another month, another empties post, and this time I’ve finished up some products that I truly loved! I have emptied products from Plantae, OGX, Madre Labs, Dove, Za, Kiehl’s, and XO Beauty. Okay, so one isn’t technically an empty but it’s something I’m throwing out so it counts for this. That’s one haircare item, two skincare, three body, and one makeup tool. Let’s get into it!
One of my favourite online shopping websites is iHerb.com, and today I’m sharing my latest haul. iHerb sells a lot of natural food and healthcare products, but the main thing I buy from there is beauty products (of course!). This most recent order is more about the tools, rather than cosmetics, although one little item of makeup hopped into my cart. In this post I’ve shared my first impressions of two Bdellium Tools makeup brushes, an EcoTools hairbrush, and a Honeybee Gardens lip liner.
Hey there readers! My name is Leah, and I’m a wedding blogger over at Rosemary & Twine. I’m super excited to share a little “how to” with you today! I’ll be showing and telling you how to use velcro rollers to curl your hair. Curling your hair often involves a lot of heat, but this is a no-heat curls method that is a classic for a reason.
During January I managed to finish a respectable five products, as well as deciding to throw out a couple of things that I just never use. They were: Trilogy botanical body wash*, Eleven miracle hair treatment, Neutrogena Hydro Boost SPF 15 as well as a sample size, Manicare Cuticle Therapy Oil, Kleancolour Madly Matte top coat, and Jordana calcium basecoat. All bar one of them were full sized as well, so that’s a good effort. I haven’t been wearing as much makeup lately because it is SO HOT and humid here in Auckland so that probably explains why everything is skincare, hair, body, and nail products. Eleven Miracle Hair Treatment I got this in a subscription box way back in September 2014! I went back to see what I wrote about it when I originally got it and I said “Even considering how much I need to use for my long hair, I think this would last a fairly decent amount of time, so it’s good value for money” – well I was right! I used this the majority of times that I wash my hair and I always noticed a difference in how it dried. Repurchase? Probably, I’m currently using a […]
A year ago I wrote a post about my experience having IPL (intense pulsed light) hair removal treatments, and it feels like time for an update about how it’s going. I had been having treatments on my underarms for nearly 3 years, and to be honest, I was fed up. My hairs were much softer and lighter…but they were mostly still there which is not what I wanted. I had raised my frustration with the clinic a few times and they did do their best for me, but it just wasn’t quite good enough. Then one day I saw on facebook that Off Wax, a waxing bar that I used to go to before I started to get IPL/and still sometimes get my brows done at, is now Off Wax and Laser. I went for a consultation there, and embarked on my first laser hair removal session! In this post I’ll explain the difference between IPL and laser hair removal, and write about my experience getting laser hair removal.
I know, it’s the middle of December and I’m writing about the beauty products that I used up in November. Better late than never, right? I finished up quite a few different products – hair care, skincare, makeup, and body. That was a mixture of full sized, and samples, and overall I’m feeling quite accomplished. By the way, when I say ‘repurchase’, some of them I didn’t actually purchase but got sent from brands, or got samples at counter but my evaluation remains the same – would I spend my money on them in the future. Right, now let’s get on with the reviews!
As most of you know, I’m single and dating at the moment. As a ‘typical girl’ it takes me forever, and a million products to get ready for a date. So, in his post I’m going to give you a behind the scenes look into the process of me getting ready for a date! I can do it in a rush, if need be, but I really would rather not. I enjoy the process – I always have music playing and usually have a pre-drink. A fair few of these products I’m using I’ve blogged about before since I like to use my tried-and-trued products, so I’ll link to the reviews where I can. I hope you enjoy this peek into my life…and if you’re the guy I’m dating, stop reading now, it’ll ruin the illusion.
This month my empties box actually OVERFLOWED! So, I’ve actually split this post into two – today is skincare, hair, and nail products and later in the week we’ll get to makeup. Some of the things in this post aren’t empties in the true sense of the word, but they are products I’m throwing away, so they count.
Last weekend, I went for a haircut which is a pretty routine activity for me. I went to the same salon I’ve been going to for like five years, and although the hairdresser I’ve been seeing recently was away on holiday, I thought it would be fine to see someone else there since I’ve always loved my hair I’ve had done there. WHAT A CRUCIAL MISTAKE. I explained to the hairdresser what I wanted, which was a bit shorter, thinned out, and shaped around my face – the same thing I’ve had for ages now. The experience started off well, and the head massage was actually so amazing I texted a friend about it. The haircut seemed like it was going well, nothing to arouse my concerns, until the blowdrying/style part began. I asked for waves…and what I got was the ugliest curls I’ve ever seen. I also realised that my hair was MUCH shorter that I wanted. I was in shock, and I just paid and left before bursting into tears once I got in my car. I rushed home and tried to straighten my hair, and fixed my makeup (although I kept ruining it with tears!). I was […]
This month I have an absolutely bumper empties post, since I tidied my makeup table and did a bit of a clean up of my collection. Many of these aren’t actually empty, but they’re going in the bin all the same so they deserve to be in this post. There are a whopping 25 items, so I won’t be going through all of them individually – I’ll focus on the full size products that I’ve actually finished – so let’s get into it!
