Za cleansing oil

A little while ago I attended an event hosted by Za Cosmetics, and was given a great bag of their products. I’ve been working my way through the products, and today I’m going to be talking about the Za Deep Cleansing Oil and Lasting Moisture Gel. Both of these products are types of things I enjoy using – oil cleansers, and hyaluronic acid based moisturisers, so it was off to a good start already. Keep reading to find out what else I like about them!

Overnight essentials

Wednesday, July 29th 2015 Skincare

Being a single 24 year old who loves a good night out, I sometimes find myself unexpectedly staying the night somewhere, and so I need to have some essentials with me for those nights. If I’m going to be sleeping on a couch or something, the least I need is a well stocked handbag. I generally carry around a lot of beauty
products anyway, so some of them aren’t additional, but I’m going to list them all because they come in handy so often.

Trilogy Gentle Facial Exfoliant

Monday, July 27th 2015 Skincare

A long time ago (last year), I wrote a post entitled Microbead exfoliators are polluting the ocean. I had discovered that many exfoliators include plastic microbeads which are too small to be properly filtered in wastewater treatment plants – this includes products which purport to be natural. Since discovering this (and throwing out a couple of scrubs) I haven’t used a facial scrub at all. That is, until recently. I attended an event that Trilogy hosted for beauty bloggers and we were given the Trilogy Gentle Facial Exfoliant.

The exfoliation in this comes from small jojoba wax beads that are smooth and gentle. Unlike more abrasive scrubs with rough shell or uneven pieces, using the Trilogy Gentle Exfoliant will not damage your skin and cause microtears. Jojoba beads are biodegradable, and this is the first product containing them that I have come across, and I have been checking the ingredients on every scrub that I see for about a year now.

Skincare update

Wednesday, June 24th 2015 Skincare

It’s been a while since I’ve written about the skincare I’m using, so it’s time for an update. My routine changes frequently, based on how my skin is feeling, and I also l like to try new products. Being a beauty blogger means I often have new products arriving on my door step, and although I don’t try all of them since not everything is suitable for my skin, I like to give a good test of most of them before writing about them. The additions to my winter skincare routine lately have been Queen Helene Mint Julep Masque, Oasis Beauty Hot Toddy Super Hydrating Serum*, Clinique Turnaround Overnight Revitalising Moisturizer*, and Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel SPF 15.

Manuka Doctor and Plantae Skincare

Wednesday, March 4th 2015 Skincare

I feel so lucky that through blogging I get the opportunity to try so many interesting new beauty products. Not all of them make it to the blog, but today I’ll be sharing my thoughts about two skincare products I’ve been using and liking for a few weeks now. They are Plantae Sea Buckthorn Berry Night Cream and Manuka Doctor Brightening Facial Oil, and both of them now feature in regular rotation for my evening skincare routine. Regular readers may know that my skin tends towards dry, and somewhat sensitive – so keep that in context for my reviews. Like with all skincare, what works well for me could be terrible for you.

Simple Micellar Cleansing Water

Friday, February 6th 2015 Skincare

Micellar waters have become hugely popular over the last couple of years, and until recently they haven’t been available in New Zealand. Last week Simple launched their Kind to Skin Micellar Cleansing Water, and they kindly sent me a bottle to review.

What is a Konjac Sponge?

Friday, December 19th 2014 Skincare

When I wrote the other week about my skincare routine, a few people were curious about the Konjac Sponge that I mentioned. So, today I’m writing about what a Konjac Sponge is, and how and why I use one.

My evening skincare routine

Wednesday, December 3rd 2014 Skincare

In the early days of my blog, about six months ago, I wrote a post about my skincare routine. In that time, my routine has changed a bit AKA become more complicated so I feel like now is the time to update you all on what I use. This is going to be a long post, so settle in as I go over allll of the skincare I’ve been using in the evening. My products of choice seem to change fairly often, but these have been staples for a while now, and I would recommend them. Of course, everyone’s skin is different, but this is keeping my dry, acne-prone skin in reasonably good shape.

October empties

Monday, November 3rd 2014 Skincare

October is a bit light on the empties front. I tried quite a lot of new products, so I didn’t really get through many of my existing products. Everything I used up was skincare, no makeup or even hair products this month. A couple of these products have become favourites of mine, so read on to see what they are.

Introducing Skinfood Breast Cream

Monday, October 6th 2014 Skincare

Today I’m going to be talking about something a little bit different – a new beauty routine that could potentially save your life. The New Zealand Breast Cancer Foundation (NZBCF) has partnered with Skinfood to create Breast Cream – a product to encourage women to check their breasts as part of their regular beauty routine. It’s a nice nourishing moisturiser, and the idea behind it is that by applying it, women will check their breasts regularly.
