Lena Talks Beauty skincare routine - neutrogena, goodness, la roche-posay, seed and soul, clinique, garnier, instanatural, avene, and dermalogica

It has been FOREVER since I’ve written what my daily skincare routine is. This year I have tried really hard to stick to a consistent routine, of using 1 product until I finish it up. When I first started being sent products to try for my blog, I’d be using new things every week. My skin did not enjoy chopping and changing so much, especially considering so many of the products weren’t right for my skin type. Since sticking to a consistent routine, my skin has really looked so much better. People often say that you need to stick to one brand of skincare which I don’t believe in. I use products from La Roche-Posay, Neutrogena, Garnier, Clinique, Dermalogica, Avene, Goodness, Seed + Soul, and InstaNatural. Now, onto my skincare routine:

The 5 best exfoliators without microbeads

microbeads-without-exfoliators

Microbeads are tiny plastic beads that are used in personal care products, such as facial exfoliators and other body products. Sewage treatment plants are generally not designed to filter out such tiny particles, so they end up polluting waterways. Ever since I learned about the dangers they pose to waterways and the creatures that live in them I have avoided using them in favour of exfoliators without microbeads.

Reading ingredient lists to figure out if they contain plastic can be seriously confusing so I’ve done the work for you. In this post I’ve rounded up a list of exfoliators that are free of polluting microbeads. I’ve used these products myself and can recommend using them. Some plastic-free scrubs rely on harsh pieces like shell that end up harming your skin but these are gentle. The brands included are Goodness, Trilogy, Oasis Beauty, Dermalogica, and River Veda. All were provided to me as press samples.

Antipodes Skincare – serum and facial oil reviews

Friday, August 12th 2016 Skincare

A few month ago, I was lucky enough to be sent the entire range of facial oils and serums from Antipodes. My mum begged and pleaded for me to give them to her, and I agreed – on the condition that she reviewed them for me. So, this is my mum’s review of the following Antipodes serums and oils: Divine Face Oil – Avocado Oil & Rosehip, Hosana H20 intensive skin plumping serum, Chia & Kiwi Seed Superfood serum, Worship Superfruit antioxidant serum, Joyous protein rich night replenish serum, and Apostle skin brightening serum.

Caci Clinic MediSpa Milford Auckland - Lena Talks Beauty-2

I was lucky enough to win a voucher for a microdermabrasion treatment at Caci Clinic via a giveaway from Rose and Thorne. I had heard great things about microdermabrasion previously but never quite understood what was involved, so I was quite excited. I had my treatment and complimentary skin consulation at Caci Clinic Milford a couple of weeks ago. People on social media seemed very curious about microdermabrasion, and peppered me with questions about it. This post is about my experience of having microdermabrasion, as well as some research I’ve done into the microdermabrasion procedure.

Daily Skincare routine

Monday, February 22nd 2016 Skincare

My skin has never been great, and the last few years that has been particularly true. I’ve been trying every skincare product under the sun, especially because I’m lucky enough to get a lot sent to me, but I haven’t had any great success. Finally, I said enough was enough, and I needed to develop a consistent daily skincare routine. This routine includes products from Skinfood, Trilogy, Cetaphil, La Roche Posay, Antipodes, and Clinique.

Goodness and trilogy gift sets - Lena Talks Beauty

If, like me, you are yet to buy any Christmas presents, then this is the post for you! Alternatively, if you’ve smugly sorted your Christmas presents then you are still welcome, as who knows, you may be in need of some skincare for yourself. Today I’m reviewing two skincare sets from New Zealand based companies that both harness the powers of natural oils. They are the Trilogy Rosapene™ Beauty Collection and the Goodness Grab & Go  Try-Me Kit. Read on to find out what the sets are comprised of, and why I like them so much…

Neutrogena Hydro Boost Mask - Lena Talks Beauty

Sheet masks have long been popular in Asian skincare, but they’ve now made their way into Western skincare brands which I am very excited about. What is a sheet mask? A sheet mask is a thin sheet of cotton which is soaked in a liquid toner, serum, or essence. They have a variety of different purposes, but the type I like to use the most are moisturising. The new Neutrogena Hydro Boost Mask* fits into that category, as it uses Hyaluronic Acid which adds a lot of moisture to the skin.

Nove Microfibre makeup removal cloth - Lena Talks Beauty

I am an endlessly curious person, and I can’t resist buying novel products. Recently I was buying the Mindfulness Colouring Book from Mighty Ape, and had a poke around in their beauty section as well. I discovered the Nove Make Up Removal Cloth and since it was only $2.99 I decided to pop it in my cart. It’s a microfibre cloth which claimed to remove makeup with only water, no cleansers or other products. I was skeptical but I also was like ‘this would be good for the blog’. My Nove cloth arrived pretty quickly, and I put it to the test – and now I’m sharing the results of that test.
