Colourpop took the makeup world by storm a couple of years ago and has been going strong ever since. I had been put off by their expensive international shipping, but when I saw they had free international shipping with a spend of $50 I knew it was time to pull the trigger. I bought things from several of their different categories so I could really get to know what their products were like. I ordered two lip pencils, an ultra satin liquid lipstick, a lippie stix, an eyeshadow, and a blush. Shipping was reasonably fast, I ordered late at night on the 15th of November and it travelled all the way from Colourpop in LA to New Zealand by the 24th of November. Keep reading for swatches, reviews, and pictures of these Colourpop goodies on my face.

Essence Cosmetics is a relative newcomer to the New Zealand makeup scene, and I’ve been a big fan ever since their launch. Essence releases new products all throughout the year which keeps the range fresh and up with current trends. They recently sent me a huge bundle of products, as you may have seen on my instagram and I decided to put them all on my face. Well, not all at once – that would be ridiculous! What I did was a full face look using all Essence products, and I’ll give a quick rundown on my thoughts of each item.

The Christmas season is fast approaching, and whilst some people have been shopping for months, others (me) leave it a bit later. The same goes for my gift guides – better late than never! I don’t typically write gift guides, because I find it hard enough to buy for my friends and family, let alone make suggestions for other people. However, I’ve been sent a number of press releases about some cool Christmas gift sets that I wanted to draw people’s attention to. Either you can buy them as gifts, or you can use this as a guide to shopping for yourself. The brands included in this post are MAC Cosmetics, Real Techniques, and Benefit Cosmetics – keep reading for more information.

Another month, another round of empties. I’ve been making a concerted effort to finish products, especially some of my many sample sachets that I’ve been hoarding for years. 13 different products isn’t a bad effort in my book. They were mostly skin and body care products, with a few haircare products, and one makeup item rounding out the group. The brands featured include Paula’s Choice, Neutrogena, Maybelline, Lush, and Vaseline. Let’s crack into it!

MAC Technique classes have been relaunched with a broader range of workshops and seminars. There are now 13 technique focuses, from beauty basics to glam chic. I am a makeup enthusiast but I’ve never really learned how to apply makeup, aside from watching endless tutorials. So, when MAC invited me to attend a MAC Technique workshop I was ecstatic.
The topic of the workshop I attended was Sculpt and Shade, and the description is as follows “Proper contouring can completely change the face shape. Learn how to emphasize flattering angles by creating dimension, symmetry and definition through shading and highlighting.”
In this post I’ll give you the run down of the whole experience – from booking, to how the class worked.

I didn’t use up very many products during August, so I decide to save my empties for a combo August and September post. I used 14 different products up, and the majority of them were full size which is a particularly good effort. Hair products feature heavily, because I did a bit of damage to my hair by lightening it significantly. I have previously written posts about a number of these products, and I will link to them if you’d like to read more about them. With each product I say whether I would repurchase them – some of them were sent to me by brands and I marked them with an asterix – so really it’s more, would I purchase them myself. I also answer that question from a perspective of if I didn’t have a lifetime supply of these products already sitting in my bathroom. The brands I’ve used up include OGX, Hi-Pro-Pac, Schwarzkopf, Sebastian, Palmolive, Far Botanicals, Za Cosmetics, Maybelline, and Clinique.

Burt’s Bees make my favourite lip balm, so I’m sure you can imagine my excitement when they released a range of lipsticks recently. I was sent a couple of the brand new Burt’s bees Lipsticks to review, and I have been wearing them constantly for the last couple of months. There are 14 shades in the range, and I have two to show you today. They are Lily Lake and Scarlet Soaked – one muted, one bold, so they’re appropriate for various different occasions.

False eyelashes are becoming more and more commonplace, but I have always been a bit scared of using them. A friend recommended Social Eyes Lashes to me, so I decided to give them a whirl. Social Eyes is owned by Karissa Pukas who has a popular beauty YouTube channel, so I figured she knows a thing or two about eyelashes! In this post I’ll be showing you Tease and Glamorous Shorty lashes by Social Eyes Lashes, and sharing some of my advice for how to apply false eyelashes.

MAC Good Luck Trolls is a limited edition collection that came out recently, and I’ve had some great fun trying out the products that MAC Cosmetics sent to me. The range of colours are rather unusual, and rather than trying to work them into some ‘everyday’ makeup looks I decided to go all out with them. This isn’t so much a makeup tutorial, more a look into the sort of madness a beauty blogger gets up to with fun new products, so I hope you enjoy!

Eleanor Dorn is an Auckland-based makeup artist who has recently launched her own line of cosmetics. About 18 months ago I heard her speak at an event, and at the time she had a range of brushes. Since then, she has gone on to release a range of makeup also. Eleanor kindly sent me these products for review, and I’ve been using them for the last wee while. They are the Highlighting Shimmer Powder, Brow Kit which includes Brow Duo Pencil, Brow Highlighter, Brow Set, Duo Sharpener, Pointed Face Brush, and the Kabuki Brush.
