August was my second month of Goodie Box – last month’s Birthday Box was my first one. On first impression, I liked it more than the July box. There are three full size products, and three that are samples. Four are skincare, one is haircare and one is makeup, which was a good range I think! I’ve been busily using them all, so now I can give you a comprehensive review about what I thought of it all.
Angel Argan Active Oxyden Instant Repair Shampoo and Conditioner -2 sample sachets of each product. Full size 300ml, $29.95
This is a brand I had never heard of before, so it was cool to get the opportunity to try it. There were two sachets of shampoo and two of conditioner, which only lasted one wash for me due to my copious amount of hair. My hair felt lovely and soft after using it, but the high price means I’d be unlikely to purchase it.
Comvita Manuka Pure Hydrating Night Moisturiser sample – full size 50ml, $55
This is a brand new product, which GoodieBoxers were some of the first people to try it. Really, I didn’t think it was anything special. It was nice and moisturising, but if I’d done a blind test I really couldn’t tell the difference between this and any other night cream or moisturiser. Especially considering how expensive it is, I definitely wouldn’t buy it, I’d rather stick to my Sukin moisturiser which was about $15 for 125ml.
Ecostore Extra Moisturising Body Lotion sample – full size 220ml, $15
I use a fair few of Ecostore’s cleaning products, so I was interested to try this. It was a nice gentle body lotion, which made my skin feel very soft. I’d consider buying the full size, as I like how quickly it absorbed into my skin. I don’t like a lot of their philosophy around ‘nasty chemicals’ – seems like a bit of scare mongering and/or bad science, but this was a good product.
Simple cleansing facial wipes sample. Full size 25 wipes, $9.50
This brand of wipes is my go-to because it’s gentle on skin and removes makeup effectively. The sample size will be perfect for travelling. It says the RRP is $9.50 but I usually pay around $6 for a pack of these at the supermarket.
Glamourflage Halo Helen facial cleanser, full size 100ml, $22.50
I had heard of Glamourflage’s makeup before, but I didn’t know they did skincare. The Halo Helen cleanser has very cute packaging which I love to see in my bathroom. It’s a nice creamy formula which cleanses my skin and doesn’t leave it feeling dry at all. I wouldn’t rely on this to remove makeup, but if you remove your makeup first then it’s a great cleanser.
Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain, full size 2.7g, $22.50
I love Revlon’s lip products, so I was really excited to get this. The shade is 015 Cherish, and it’s a lovely bright-ish pink colour. I wouldn’t really call it a stain, it doesn’t last anywhere near as long as the matte version of this range that I have posted about previously – I would say that it lasts about as long as a usual creme-finish lipstick.
I was really happy with this month’s Goodie Box – there was a good range of products and a decent amount of full sized items too. One thing I don’t like about Goodie Box is that you have to sign for the parcels – I get that they don’t want them to be stolen but at the same time, there’s no one at my house during the day and I can’t get parcels at work. So I had to call up and get this redelivered, and that was kind of a pain. A minor grumble but I wanted to say something about it.
