I can’t believe this has come around so quickly, it truly feels like just the other day that I decided to start a blog! When I was looking through my archives to find the day I first posted, I was astounded at how much I’ve improved. Looking at my first photos in particular, I practically winced to see how bad they were – so dark and so small! I’m very very pleased to see how much they’ve improved, even without considering the vast improvement in the camera I’m using, I’ve learned more about lighting and everything photo-related. My makeup skills have improved too, with practice making perfect I’ve become more confident at trying a variety of different looks that I wouldn’t have attempted in years gone by.

I know I’ve talked about this before, but I am so so happy with all of the friends I’ve made through blogging! It’s a pleasant and unexpected thing that has happened – I now have friends that I talk to every day that I met through blogging. If you are a blogger in New Zealand, you should join #BrunchClub. It’s a group for bloggers to meet up, and hang out over brunch – or sometimes we do things like learn to cook Japanese dumplings courtesy of Contiki! (read a post about the event here). We talk about blogging a fair bit and it’s a great place to get help and share advice about blogging, but it’s not all business, there’s plenty of chat about every topic under the sun.
Another great part of blogging is having the opportunity to work with brands and PR companies, and try a wide range of different products that I may never have tried before. I’m very appreciative of them, and I hope my readers find seeing these products as interesting as I do.
Thank you all for reading, and for supporting Lena Talks Beauty over the last year, I really appreciate every one of you. I love getting comments, and interacting with you all on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Here’s to another year!
